Multiconnector M4

A 40-channel multi-connector with FFC, D-sub, Micro-D, and pin-header interfaces.

Quantity

Overview

M4 multi-connector consists of several different types of connectors including FFC, Micro-D, and 2.54 mm pin output. It is suitable for applications that require multiple devices with different connections, breaking out the same 40 channels through several connector types at once, with dedicated CONF reconfiguration pins and per-channel/GND checkpoints so the board can be wired to suit different DUT connector types without modifying the main system.

Key Features

●     40 channels broken out across FFC connectors (points A–D), Micro-D connectors (points E/F), and 2.54 mm pin headers (points G/H)

●     Two Micro-D connectors (points E and F) providing an additional DUT-facing interface for the X and Y channel groups

●     Dedicated CONF reconfiguration pin headers (points I and J) to remap channel/GND assignments

●     Ground checkpoints (2 pins, points N/O) and per-channel output checkpoints (point M, 1–40) for multimeter verification without disconnecting cabling

●     Direct pass-through connectors (points P/Q) to the main XPOW system — factory pre-wired

●     Compact, passive PCB — no external power required beyond what passes through from the main system

●     Supports multiple simultaneous DUT connection types (FFC, Micro-D, and/or pin header) from a single board

Connector / Point Reference (Callouts A-Q)

Callouts A–Q correspond to the physical points on the M4 board used to configure connections to the DUT. Points A–F connect to the DUT via FFC or Micro-D connectors; points G and H are the 2.54 mm pin-header outputs; points I and J are the CONF reconfiguration pins; points K and L are the GND/channel mapping pins; point M is the channel output checkpoint; points N and O are the GND checkpoints; points P and Q connect to the main system.

Wiring Logic

●     Callouts A, B, E, G, and I (X-side group) share the same X1–X40 channel pins, and callouts C, D, F, H, and J (Y-side group) share the same Y1–Y40 channel pins, so the FFC, Micro-D, and pin-header connectors on each side provide alternative, simultaneous access to the same channels.

●     Points P and Q connect to the main system and are pre-wired at the factory (GND and corresponding channel outputs already mapped).

●     Points K and L directly correspond to points P and Q, where the top row is GND and the bottom row (C1–C40) is channel outputs.

●     The CONF headers at points I and J allow the channel/GND assignment normally carried on points G and H to be remapped away from factory default using jumper wire.

Basic Usage Example

Example 1 — Micro-D-input DUT

For a DUT with a Micro-D input, connect directly to point E (X channels) or point F (Y channels), since these connectors are already wired through to the same channel pins as the rest of the board. Select the matching channel in the control GUI.

Example 2 — FFC-input DUT

For a DUT with an FFC 50-pin input, connect directly to point B (X channels) or point C (Y channels) using an FFC cable. In factory-default configuration, GND and channel outputs follow the same mapping available at points G and H.

Example 3 — Pin-header DUT

For a DUT with an 8-channel 2.54 mm pin-header input, in factory-default configuration, channels 1–8 can be wired directly from point G or H. Outputs are available at X1–X40 (point G) or Y1–Y40 (point H); reconfiguration is available via the CONF headers at points I/J.

Configuration Options

Configuration Option
